Strength vs. Cardio: Seattle Holistic Health Coaches Hold Informational Seminar on the Foundations of Fitness and Wellbeing

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) April 26, 2008 -- On Wednesday, April 30th, the Holistic Health Coaches at Studio 122 in Seattle, WA, will be hosting an open, informational workshop aimed at providing the essential facts about the differences between cardiovascular conditioning and strength training in order to empower people to make decision about how get the most out of their exercise.

When it comes to exercise, there's little doubt that Americans prefer cardio to strength training. A National Health Interview Survey shows that only 20% of men and 14% of women engage in regular weight lifting or other forms of strength training.

Even when Americans go to the gym, their best opportunity to engage in strength training, few people take advantage. Gym owners understand this trend well. A 2006 survey of fitness club owners conducted by the trade magazine Club Industry's Fitness Business Pro showed that over 55% of owners were looking to purchase cardiovascular equipment in contrast to the 48% who were seeking to buy strength training equipment.

Why cardio? Why not strength training? Part of the answer here is that the general populace isn't aware of the effects of the two types of training on their body or how to incorporate a balance of these conditioning styles in their life in order to create a more complete approach to health. In response to the lack of public knowledge, Holistic Health Coaches Steven Stanfield, Monica Donald and Ross Meyer of Studio 122 in Seattle are hosting a Cardio vs. Strength workshop to guide those who want to exercise towards an informed decision about what's right for their body.

The workshop will cover such topics as the common physical symptoms of the sedentary lifestyle, how cardio and strength training can contribute to or alleviate stresses, the effects of cardiovascular and strength condition on our hormonal systems, and the benefits of strength training for the elderly. In short, participants in the workshop will leave with a better understanding of their body's needs and how to meet those needs in their exercise routines.

Stanfield, Donald and Meyer will be hosting their Cardio vs. Strength workshop on Wednesday, April 30th at 6:00 pm PDT at Studio 122, located at 4300 6th Ave. W, Suite 122 in Seattle, WA. The seminar is free and anyone is welcomed to attend.
