Tips for a Healthy Holiday Season From Fitness Expert David Berger

WILMINGTON, Del. (PRWeb) December 6, 2007 -- With the recent, earlier-than-usual Thanksgiving, the 2007 holiday season officially began. But even with an extra week to shop, wrap, decorate, cook and celebrate with family, co-workers and friends, it's likely that many people will experience the flip side of the season--overtiredness, stress and a raging case of health-guilt by the time New Year's Eve rolls around.

Award-winning fitness guru and nationally recognized personal trainer David Berger suggests the following tips for successfully navigating the season with minimal distress:

1.    Eat a healthy snack before holiday meals and parties. An apple is perfect--with lots of fiber and nutrition, apples curb your appetite, and they're in season and at their tastiest right now.

2.    Watch portions. Don't deny yourself your favorite foods; just eat a small amount of every one of them!

3.    Get enough sleep. Adults require 7 to 9 hours of shut-eye each night, no matter how many more gifts there are to wrap.

4.    Don't try to do it all. Enjoy your favorite traditions, of course, but remember that the simpler your celebrations are, the more you'll probably enjoy them.

5.    Exercise. If your regular routine is interrupted, consider a modified routine or long walks with friends and family.

If you don't exercise regularly, now is a great time to start. Just click on the link below to download a short beginner's routine developed by Berger:

My wife puts up with a lot, and I love her dearly, and I?m always grateful for the utter lapse in judgement she had in marrying me, over the advice of her friends.
